overview of KEnyan apostille procedure
When would I need an Kenyan document apostilled?
If you need to use Kenyan documents abroad, you may need to have them apostilled by the Kenyan High Commision in London. The Department nor The Apostilles Group are unable to advise on whether a document needs to be apostilled. This is down to whomever the document is to be presented to.
Who can authenticate documents?
The Kenyan High Commision in London can only apostille documents created in Kenya to be used in other countries. All documents must either be created in Kenya or have an Kenyan link. The Kenyan High Commision in London reserves the right to refuse to apostille any documents which they deem not to have an Kenyan link.
All documents to be apostilled must bear an original signature, seal or stamp from an Kenyan practising public official or government department.
Remember... - VERY important
It is absolutely essential to provide your original passport alongside your document to be legalised. No legalisation will take place without the subject's original passport.
how we apostille documents
An Apostille is a certificate issued by the Kenyan High Commision in London verifying the genuineness of the signature and/or seal of a public officer, on a public document.
An Apostille may be required if you wish to use a Kenyan document in a country which has acceded to the Hague Convention of 5 October 1961 Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents.
The Apostilles Group can seek and obtain the apostille on your behalf for £50.
